Press Release - Feb 2006USA Shuttlecock Organization is formed. A healthy and exciting sport enters the US. Denver, CO, February 2006: It has been played for over 2000 years in China, and is now growing in popularity in Asia and Europe. The sport of Shuttle-cock, also called FeatherBall or Jianzi as it is called in China, can be played as a team sport, or individually for fun. The Shuttlecock is similar to a hacky sac, yet floats lighter and allows for more fun and tricks than a traditional hacky sac. President and Founder of the Association, Eric Perkins first saw the Jianzi played on a recent trip to China. He was impressed with how popular it was in China, and how easy it was to use. He was quickly hooked and wanted to bring this great exercise "toy" back to the US. "Far from a toy, it is great for the cardio vascular system, great for motivating children to put down their video games, and from watching TV, if only for a few moments, and enjoy some healthy, clean fun. This could be the answer to America's fitness problem, and help people lose weight and enjoy life more." Already the sport of Shuttlecock is enjoy is most of Europe and all of Asia, it is about time it arrived in the US.
